The purpose of this blog is to aid students in senior cycle to engage in a reflective process.
This blog is intended to help students begin a journey of self -discovery where they can begin to consider their behaviours, feelings and responses. I hope that teachers and guidance counsellors will find this a helpful resource for their own use when covering reflection with students. This blog looks at the meaning of reflection and the value of reflection in your life. There is a small introduction to mindfulness and the concept of being present to the moment and clearing your mind so you can engage in a reflective exercise. I have listed a number of end of year reflective questions that a student can do in their own time or during class. However these questions can be looked at anytime during the school calender year which lends itself to reflecting e.g. mid-term breaks. This blog is intended to help students to become more self- aware and to develop a sense of critical thinking. These are invaluable skills that can be applied throughout a student's education from second level into third level and furthermore throughout their future career. The most important point to remember when reflecting is that you learn from your experiences.

I have posted up some excellent YouTube clips that capture the benefits of reflection and some insightful quotes. I will continue to post useful links and resources to aid you in your process of reflecting and I welcome your posts and comments.
Love the blog Marian, think it will be really useful in the future. Especially like the end of year questions, might do them with my tutor group in may!
